Application Process and Admissions Timelines

Once an application form and the $200 non-refundable application fee are received, we will guide you through the following five-step application process. You can complete these steps in any order.

STUDENT INTERVIEW
 

This is an informal interview that is 15-20 minutes in length and is an opportunity for us to learn more about you and for you to learn more about Merrick Preparatory School. Interviews can be conducted in person, over the telephone, via Skype, WhatsApp, WeChat, C’Me, FaceTime, Zoom, or any other medium that is convenient.

REPORT CARDS
 

We require report cards for the current in-progress academic year, along with the final report card from grade 8 if applying for grade 9; from grade 9 if applying for grade 10; from grade 9 and 10 if applying for grade 11; from grade 9, 10, 11 if applying for grade 12; from grade 9, 10, 11, 12 if applying for the University Qualification Year.

PERSONAL PROFILE
 

Applicants must submit a 300-word personal profile in their own handwriting outlining their academic goals and interests, extracurricular activities, community involvement, and areas of distinction.

CONFIDENTIAL REFERENCE
 

The Confidential Reference must be completed by the applicant’s Principal or English teacher and submitted directly to Merrick Preparatory School. We will provide you with the Confidential Reference form once the Application Form has been received.

ENTRANCE EXAM
 

This is a 30-minute timed English language test. The instructions will be provided once the application form has been received.​

Please Note

The steps of the application process may be executed in any order once the application form is received. Once all five (5) admission requirements have been met, the selection committee will review and evaluate your application. The committee will decide within 24 hours of receiving the final application requirement, and within 48 hours you will be notified of the selection committee’s decision.

Arrival Timeline for our Credit Programs
 

While we do accept applications on a rolling basis throughout the year, we have restrictions on when students can join our program and earn credits towards the Ontario Secondary School Diploma. We encourage applications as early as possible given the lengthy Study Permit application process.
